Cotile VFD

The Cotile Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1974 by a group of concerned citizens who recognized the need for local fire protection and emergency services. They started out with nothing but by 1983 had established a Fire Protection District of the Parish and passed a tax resolution to fund it. The Department now operates on a budget of approximately $125K which supports two fire stations that house 10 emergency vehicles, a training/administration building and a live fire training facility. The current roster of 30 volunteers provide the manpower to fight fires and respond to a wide variety of emergency situations such as medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, severe storm conditions, etc. These same volunteers, in addition to being on call 24 hours a day, donate their time to conduct all the various maintenance services involved in keeping up with the vehicles and associated equipment, upkeep of the buildings and grounds, as well as spending time training to become more proficient in the skills needed to protect and serve their community.
