Cotile Volunteer Fire Department is dedicated to providing the highest level of Fire / EMS and rescue service in a unique environment to the community it protects while keeping the tax burden to its residents and business owners as low as possible. Under the leadership and direction of Fire Chief Rueben Ramos, the 30 member, all volunteer staff operates out of two stations and includes one Deputy Chief, one Assistant Chief. The fire Department has a Corporate President and Board of Directors that are elected by the volunteer membership. The Corporation employs a part time Office manager. This Corporate Board of Directors has a contract with Rapides Parish, to provide fire, rescue and emergency medical services to Fire District # 8. Board Members:
The department has rescue teams. The Water Emergency Team led by Ivor Fontenot, respond to fire incidents and water rescues on Cotile Lake and routinely assists the Sheriff’s Department, with emergencies, rescues and/or recovery. Our Extrication Team led by Roger Ramos, are trained and skilled firefighters that specialize in advanced extrication techniques and response. Members of the team also share their knowledge and expertise through training and educating not only our members, but firefighters in other departments throughout Rapides Parish.
